The Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) is committed to being the service provider of choice for water of unquestionable quality in southeast Michigan. In keeping with this commitment, GLWA is constantly working to ensure the sustainability of the region’s water distribution and transmission system.

As a part of our focus on sustainability, GLWA’s contractor, Rick-Man Clark Joint Venture, will be installing eight miles of new water transmission main between 14 Mile Road and 8 Mile Road.

A segment of this project involves installing watermain across Meadowbrook Road, which will require a complete one-day closure of Meadowbrook Road just north and south of I-96.  On Saturday, August 20th, the contractor will install the first few sections of pipe across Meadowbrook from west to east, just north of I-96. Meadowbrook will be completely closed at this location for 5 to 6 hours. Once complete, the contractor will begin installing new 54-inch water main along Meadowbrook in the northbound lane, up to 12 Mile Road.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding during this project. The new water main will provide redundancy to an area where it previously did not exist, which will lessen the impact to residents and businesses in the event of an emergency.
