The Novi City Council filled its lone vacant seat at a special meeting on Monday night with resident Julie Maday.
Maday, who has lived in Novi for 11 years, was one of three residents seeking appointment to the partial term ending in November 2021. The other candidates were Ramesh Verma, Michael Reddy and Travis Malott. The seat opened up when former Councilmember Kelly Breen was elected to serve in the State House last November.
The current City Council members voted 4-2 to appoint Maday, a current Novi Planning Commissioner. Maday has also been actively involved in various committees within the Novi Community School District. She is a member of the Community Emergency Response Team and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
"Personally, I would like to continue growing and learning about local government," said Maday on her application. "As a member of Council, I would like to contribute by making decisions within our community that keep Novi a great place to live."
