Lt. Meier graduates from EMU School of Police Staff and Command
The Novi Police Department is pleased to announce the recent graduation of Lt. Jason Meier from the School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) at Eastern Michigan University.
Lt Meier was part of a 44-member class who successfully completed the nine-month Staff and Command program. Lt. Meier exercised his leadership abilities as the class president and was ranked number one academically, receiving the academic excellence award.
The School of Police Staff and Command provides upper-level college instruction in several core or mandatory blocks of classes. The major topics of study include Management and Management Theory, Grant Writing, Human Resources for Law Enforcement, Budgeting, Staffing Allocation, and Homeland Security. The EMU School of Staff and Command is a combination of remote and classroom learning and provides 360 hours of instruction.
“I am extremely proud of Lieutenant Meier, his dedication to professional development and this academic accomplishment,” said Novi Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police David E. Molloy. “The program has provided him an advanced level of specialized training which will enhance his capabilities with the Novi Police Department and the services offered to the citizens of Novi."
A graduate of Western Michigan University, Lt. Meier began his career with the Novi Police Department in November 1998. He subsequently continued his education, receiving his law degree from Wayne State University, and currently serves as the support services Lieutenant overseeing the Investigations and Records Sections.
