Volunteers from Love Joy Passion Soccer (LJPSoccer) were busy this holiday spreading joy to local kids. On Nov. 26, Dec. 17 and Dec. 23, 2022, volunteers held a three-session indoor winter soccer training camp for boys and girls ages 7-12 at a local church. Volunteers, including Patrick Li, Allen Lin, Vallerie Sun, Weitai Zhao, Ray Sun, Jason Lin, Alex Mui, Samantha Zhu and Emma Luo, are the backbone for this camp. The group was led by Novi High School senior Patrick Li, co-founder and president of LJPSoccer. They raised the funds through fundraiser activities, recruited volunteer soccer coaches, and rented an indoor field for the campers. They used fun activities and a variety of transition and possession games to help the players build techniques such as dribbling, passing and shooting. They also held scrimmages between campers vs coaches to apply the skills and techniques learned over the course of camp. On the last day of the camp, all local schools were closed due to a winter storm. The children at LJPSoccer camp, however, were full of warmness and happiness. They not only played soccer but also received Christmas gifts made with the joy and love from the LJPSoccer volunteers.
LJPsoccer is a Novi-based nonprofit organization started in 2021 by a group of high school students.
