Novi Pom Teams Grand Champs; Taylor Boron Earns Award!

The Novi JV and Varsity Pom Pon teams recently participated in the Mid-American Pom summer camp session held from June 27 to July 30 at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Out of 19 teams and over 300 ‘pommers’ attending, Novi Varsity Captain Taylor Boron was granted the “Smile, Sparkle, and Shine” award for the best overall individual based on leadership, teamwork, and pom technique.

Captains Alexa Boron and Taylor Boron led the Novi High School Varsity Pom Team to earn the coveted Grand Champion Award again this year. The team earned excellent ratings in the original routine, speed learning and high kick categories to accomplish this feat.

Members of the squad include: Kelsie Autterson, Mackenzie Betts, Lauren Collins, Alex DeLaCruz, Jessica Dipaola, Mikaela Falsetti, Mary Favorite, Marisa Giampa, Katie Groechel, Paige Gurizzian, Gi Hong, Sara Hudgens, Megan Jamrog, Mackenzie Kelley, Kaley Kennedy, Christy Lyon, Ashley Miller, Kailey Oppat, Kimberly Powers, Nicole Rigdon, Morgan Shepherd, and Ashley Wojtylo. Novi Varsity Pom Head Coaches are Kristy Renaud and Erin Bartos and Assistant Coach April Brousseau.

Captains Aditi Chadha, Delaney Ulle, and Emma Weil led the Novi JV Pom Team to also earn the Grand Champion Award at the camp. In addition, Novi JV won the ‘Peppy Pom’ award for the team with the most spirit and enthusiasm. Members include: Gillian Autterson, Laura Baumgarten, Amy Cao, Jenny Chang, Kristen Coury, Patricia Dixon, Chetali Jain, Brooke Laney, Kelsey Lewinski, Amy Liang, Rachel Murray, Annie Segal, Caitlyn Sultana, Drew Thomasson, and Renee Weil. Novi JV Pom is coached by Elyse Bartos.

The five Novi Varsity Seniors entertained the crowd by performing a special high kick routine to a Lady Gaga song mix. They are Alexa Boron, Taylor Boron, Kelsie Autterson, Kimberly Powers, and Jessica Dipaola.

Novi Pom will be running a week-long pompon clinic for girls in 1st grade through 8th grade from August 2-6. More information about times and rates can be found by contacting the coaches at novipompon@gmail.com.
