Roller 'Cats Squeak By WL Northern
5/4/07 Submitted to Novi.org

Novi barley squeaked by the Knights of Walled Lake Northern Thursday evening with a late goal by Shawn Baxter to win 4-3.

"I said the rest of the season would tell the tale of how we will fair in the state tourney and we passed tonight with a C minus," said coach Smith.

Novi was unable to keep their emotions in check, losing two players during the game under the three minor penalty rule. The majority of the game was played short handed by Novi, and the stellar goal tending of Kyle Jones made the difference who made some huge saves at key times.

"We relied heavy on Kyle tonight and he came through bailing the team out time after time," said Smith. "The coaching staff has said all year that this group is extremely talented and one of the deepest teams in the league, but if they come to play unprepared they can be beat."

The 'Cats were lead by Kyle Potocki and Jeff Donohue with 2 points each.

Novi will face the 06' league champions, Walled Lake Central Sunday, who so far look to be more complete than last year.
