Wildcats defeat Livonia Franklin 5-0

The Wildcats faced their first regional opponent, Livonia Franklin, last night at the Novi Ice Arena, downing the Patriots by the score of 5-0.

With the score tied 0-0 half way through the first period, Robert Lewis scored on a breakaway at the 8:14 mark. The game remained 1-0 in favor of the Wildcats until the 1:25 mark of the second period when Andrew Haggerty scored a power play goal with assists going to Kyle Potocki and Shawn Baxter.

After a scoreless second period, the 'Cats took a commanding lead with Shawn Baxter scoring an unassisted goal at the 9:56 mark of the third period and Robert Lewis notching his second goal of the game at the 7:13 mark. Assisting on the Lewis goal were Andrew Haggerty and Adam Szajner. Kyle Potocki capped the night scoring with a nice tip-in goal off a hard shot from the point by Sean Murphy. Also assisting on the Potocki goal was Eric Aepelbacher.

Kevin Michalzuk handled the net for the well-deserved shutout.

Novi faces Plymouth High School on Wednesday at the Novi Ice Arena for their second regional game. Face-off is at 6:30 p.m.
