Novi Wildcats skate to a 2 - 2 vs. the
University of Detroit Jesuit High School

2/20/2007 Submitted to Novi.org

The Wildcats faced non-conference opponent University of Detroit Jesuit High School on Friday night and came away with a 3-3 tie. It was a wild game that saw Novi come from a two goal deficit on two separate occasions and still pull out the tie.

The Wildcats fell behind 1-0 at the 4:34 mark of the first period, which is where the game stood at the first intermission. An even-strength goal by U of D at the 7:03 mark of the second period put the Cats down by two goals. Less than a minute later, a quick shot by Tommy Dircks resulted in a rebound that Eric Aepelbacher banged home for his first goal of the season. That put the Cats right back into the game. Also assisting on the goal was Art Ferriss.

At 11:29 of the second period, U of D came right back and scored their third goal of the game putting Novi behind by two goals for the second, but final, time of the night. The second period ended with the score 3-1 in U of D's favor.

With players from both teams serving penalties and playing four men aside, Junior Andrew Haggerty notched Novi's second goal of the night and brought the Cats to within one goal of tying the game. With Jeff Donohue in the penalty box, and only 1:19 left in the game, Senior Kyle Potocki came to the rescue, scoring a shorthanded goal to tie the game at three each.

With no goals being scored in the five minute overtime, this game goes in the books as a tie for both teams. Final score 3-3.

Novi faces KVC opponent the Hartland Eagles on Wednesday night this week for their final KVC game of the season.

The Wildcats will be facing Livonia Franklin on Monday, February 26th at Novi Ice Arena for their first Pre-Regional game.
