Wildcats down South Lyon Lions 8 - 2
2/18/2007 Submitted to Novi.org

Novi took on the Lions from South Lyon Thursday night in a KVC league makeup game for the one cancelled the night before due to school being cancelled. The Wildcats showed how hungry they are getting for the upcoming playoffs by taking a huge 4-0 lead after just one period of hockey. Goals by Jeff Donohue, Adam Szajner, Shawn Baxter, and Scott Eberline put the Cats ahead for good in this barn burner.

Assists on the first period goals went to Art Ferriss, Matt Quay, Ryan Richardson (2), Adam Szajner, Andrew Haggerty, and Shawn Baxter.

South Lyon spent much of the first period in the penalty box and finding themselves at the mercy of Novi's potent power play units.

The Wildcats continue to dominate South Lyon into the second period with three more goals by Baxter, Kyle Potocki, and Robert Lewis, with Potocki's and Lewis' goals coming just a mere five seconds apart.

Assists in the second period barrage came from Donohue, Potocki, and Szajner.

Novi added another goal late in the third period from Donohue (His second of the game), assisted by Art Ferriss and Paul Favorite. Shawn Baxter notched his first "Hat Trick" of the season and finished the night with a total of four points.

Other multi-point getters were Donohue with three points, Szajner with three points, and Ferriss with two points. Joe DeNova was in net and while seeing limited action early in the game, came up with two of the best stops of the season very late in the third period that brought the home fans to their feet.

The final in this one: Novi 8 South Lyon 2.

The Wildcats face U of D on Friday night at what will be their final regular season KVC home game of the year.
