'Cats Catch Bulldogs 6-4
Steve Rousseau's hot wheels carry Wildcats
5/9/2006 by John Smith and Scott Olson
Steve
Rousseau has made the transition from steel to wheels look easy. In
doing so he led the cats to a 6-4 victory over KVC rival Brighton
scoring 3 goals, and helping on another.
"Steve has the ability to change the game and that is what he did on
Sunday," said Assistant Coach Brad Zarem.
The Wildcats struggled to get their rhythm for most of the game but
managed to hang on for a late victory.
"I think the boys were a little tuckered out from prom the previous
night and it definitely showed through the first 2 periods - we were
making it for them," said Head Coach John Smith.
Again, goaltending was huge for Novi.
Chad Tindall has been playing with a sore groin the last 3 games but
still manages to make brilliant saves every day.
With 1:10 to play in regulation Steve Rousseau scored a beautiful power
play goal from Greg Morrisette. Justin Ascenzo scored an insurance goal
shortly after to seal the game.
"We are starting to turn the corner and I am looking for a huge game out
of
the boys on Thursday as we look to take over 2nd place from Walled Lake
Northern. They have a 'run-gun' style of play, so we need to be prepared
and ready to go," said Coach Dave Zarem.
