Inline Falls to
Walled Lake Western
4/25/2006 by John Smith and Scott Olson
The Novi Wildcat Varsity Inline team took
one on the chin last night as they were shutout 8-0 against Walled Lake
Western. The game was close throughout the contest until the third
period.
After one, the 'Cats were down 1-0, and after the second 3-0. In the
third period, WLW showed why they are one of the top teams in the state.
"Our kids showed many positive things, but we still have a ways to go.
It will take a few more games and practices until we understand the
style of play, most of our players have very little experience at the
inline game and it showed," said Associate Coach Brad Zarem.
On the bright side, Chad Tindall made some outstanding saves between the
pipes.
"We didn't give Chad much help for the fact we spent half of the game in
the penalty box. The boys have to learn that inline hockey is a game of
wits, skill and finesse. This game was an advanced lesson on how to play
and Walled Lake Western taught it well. Next practice we will cover
special teams and learn to be more patiant with the puck. We have tons
of talent and once we learn the the system we will be a force at the
end," explained Head Coach John Smith.
The Inline Wildcat's next game is
against cross-town rival Catholic Central this Thursday at 7:40 PM.
