Wildcats rule '06 Regional,
and "future Regional" too!

10/30/2006 by Scott Olson

Competing against a field of 13 teams, the Novi Wildcat Men's Cross Country Team showed up in force at the Regional Meet at Schoolcraft College in Livonia Saturday. The weather wasn't pleasant, but that didn't slow the 'Cats down.

Novi (26) took first place overall, followed by Plymouth (76), Churchill (90), Catholic Central (101), Canton (137), and Northville (166) - the top six teams.

At the meet, Novi's Mike Wheat took first place individually, and Novi put 5 guys in the top 10. Also in the top ten were Alex Prasad, Kenny MacDonough, Scott Wagner, and Josh Lumley.

That qualifies all 5 for the State Finals Saturday, November 4th at the MIS Speedway in Brooklyn Michigan. In addition, Wildcats Mike Beard and Aaron Croad, qualified for the State Finals

It was truly another amazing day for the Novi Wildcat Men's Cross Country team.

Another race took place Friday afternoon at Redford Union - the JV Regional. This is an event that's not well understood - the JV Regional is the forecast for the coming years in the region.

How did Novi do? Well - you can't do any better.

As Wildcat veteran Head Coach Robert Smith explains, "Our 'Cats nearly scored 'the perfect' - we took places 1,2,3,4, and 7 to score 17 points. Catholic Central was a distant second with 82 points. The future looks bright for Novi!"

Those seven amazing junior 'Cats included Cateriano, Butler, Place, Blaszczyk, and Manza.

Congratulations to the Novi Wildcat Men's Cross Country team - regional champs today, and tomorrow too!
