Wildcat Hockey wins final two KVC games of season
2/23/2006 by Scott Olson

The Wildcats finished the 2005-2006 KVC regular season this week with two strong performances against two big conference rivals, Lakeland and Milford - both on the road.

Monday, the 'Cats downed the Lakeland Eagles 4-2. Scoring for Novi was Matt Haggerty, Craig Howell, Robert Lewis and Steve Rousseau. Kevin Michalzcuk was in net for Novi, and put on a strong performance against the Eagles in their nest.

Wednesday, the Wildcats headed to Milford for the final KVC game of the regular season. The 'Cats came out strong in the first period with goals from Shamus Finerty, Steve Rousseau and Ryan Fox. The Mavericks scored once in the first, making it 3-1 Novi after one period.

In the second period, Tom Ciaverilla and Kyle Mouch added two goals for Novi, and the Mavericks scored again, making it 5-2 after two.

In the third, Ciaverilla scored again, and Greg Morisette also put one between the pipes. Final score: 7-3 Novi.

The Wildcats were able to capitalize on five power plays, as they frustrated the Mavericks on their home ice. Novi out-shot Milford 34-14, with Brad Clos handling Novi's net with ease. Ciaverilla had four points in the game, and Marc Bernier earned two assists.

Saturday, Novi takes on the University of Detroit High School on the road. Monday, play off action begins with a contest against Plymouth at Livonia's Eddie Edger Arena.

Novi ends the regular KVC season 8-5-1, and is now 13-8-2 overall. The 'Cats have won their last 7 games.
