Women's Cross Country Downs Pirates
21-37 Win Vs. Pinckney Gives Lady 'Cats 1-0 KVC Record
9/8/2005 by Alex Prasad

On Wednesday, the Novi Wildcats Women's Cross Country team defeated the Pinckney Pirates by a score of 21-37. On a day that saw temperatures near 90 degrees, the Lady 'Cats found a way to take 4 of the top 5 spots in the race!

First to cross the finish line overall was Novi's Meghan Bennatz with a great time of 21:14 at the unforgiving Hudson Mills Metropark course. Second for the Wildcats and third overall was junior Andrea Kramer with a time of 21:57. Emily Barton (22:08), Erin Haynes (22:13), and freshman Kelli Brown (22:51) rounded out the top five for the Wildcats.

The impressive finish for the Wildcats in their first KVC matchup was met with much optimism; the Wildcats defeated the Pirates while missing three of their top twelve runners according to Coach Reid.

In the always competitive KVC however, the 'Cats can't rest easy. They face the Howell Highlanders next Tuesday after their run at the U of D Invite on Saturday.
