Wildcats fall to Pinckney Pirates 5-4
Both teams score with seconds to go in game
11/24/05 by Scott Olson

The tide rushed in and out for the Wildcats Wednesday evening, as Novi started strong, took a break in the box, and fought back hard. But in the end, it was the Pirates who managed to score with seconds to go in to take home their second victory in school history over the hockey Wildcats.

In the first period, the Cats played some excellent hockey and out-shot the Pirates 17-2. Steve Rousseau, Kyle Mouch and Alex Malott each scored.

The tide changed in the second period, and the Pirates came out with all cannons firing. Novi was out-shot 18-3 and spent the period in the box, allowing Pinckney to score three power play goals.

In the third period, both teams fought hard to gain the lead, and Pinckney scored with 1:36 on the board to move ahead 4-3. Tom Ciaverilla answered back with :21 to go to tie things up. It looked like over-time was coming, but
Pinckney managed to get one between the posts on a rebound with just three seconds to go.

Coach Travis Malott explained following the game, "If we cannot stay out of the box we will never succeed." Words of wisdom from Novi's new assistant coach.

Wednesday the Wildcats head to Howell, and Friday 12/2 is the home KVC opener vs. Lakeland.
