Novi Men's Cross Country Dominates WLW Invitational
Wildcats looking strong today, and for the future too!
9/19/2005 by Scott Olson
The Walled Lake Western
Invitational is something the Novi Wildcats look forward to
every year. For six years in a row, Novi has taken as least one
of the two top slots: freshmen/sophomore and junior/senior. Last
year, Novi won both classes. This year was no exception, as the
Wildcats again came home with first place honors in both
classes.
In the junior/senior race, the top
three Wildcats were the same three who finished at the front of
last year's freshmen/sophomore race: Mike Wheat, Alex Prasad,
and Scott Wagner. Kenny MacDonough rounded out the top ten
overall. Not too shabby - four guys in the top ten - of eight
teams!
The freshmen/sophomore race was
also glorious for the Wildcats. Josh Lumley won that race in a
field of 7 teams. Very impressive Josh! He was followed by Luke
Barnes, Aaron Croad and Mike Place - all in the top ten.
From
the looks of things, Coach Robert Smith has the guys running
well this year as usual. He told the
Detroit Free Press last week, "They
don't want to be the team that lets our tradition down, and so
far they've exceeded all expectations."
It would appear these 'Cats are
continuing to exceed expectations, Coach. Or should we say,
continuing to meet our high expectations?
This week's trivia point: Alex
Prasad was the second Cat across the line at last year's WLW
Invitational, and the second Cat across the line this year too.
OK Alex, what you gonna do next year?
This week, the 'Cats take on
Lakeland Tuesday at Novi's Cass Benton Park. Next week
Wednesday, the guys travel to Brighton for a dual-meet.
