Novi HS student thanks the community,
and Busch's, for their support
October 1, 2011 by
Rebecca BartlettI am
writing to express my thanks to the Novi community for their support
of the NHS Band Fall Can & Bottle drive. I am a freshman at Novi
High School and am a flutist in the marching band. This event was
held Saturday September 10, 2011 and it raised over $5000! It is
hard to imagine that over 50, 000 cans & bottles were collected.
Each student is assigned a
neighborhood route to cover. I found that the people were very
friendly and eager to help us meet our goal. It was so exciting when
someone had recycling bin full of empties to dump in my bag! Many
people wished me luck and an enjoyable band season. We filled our
vehicle and had to make three trips to drop everything off.
This event would not be successful
without the help of Busch’s Fresh Food Market in Novi. They have
been a proud sponsor of the NHS Band Can & Bottle drive for many
years. Busch’s sets aside a portion of their parking lot on a busy
Saturday morning just for us. There we sort the cans and bottles.
Busch’s also arranges for the distributors to come and pick up all
the cans and bottles.
Despite the rain that morning, it
turned out to be a really fun and rewarding experience. I really
appreciated that people in the community were so generous and
supportive of the NHS Band.
Respectfully, Rebecca Bartlett Novi
