My name is Wayne Wrobel and I am running for
a seat on the Novi City Council.
I have been a homeowner in Novi for over 25
years and want to help Novi continue to prosper. In my
opinion, prosperity can be achieved by strictly following
two guiding principles: Fiscal responsibility and adherence
to the existing Master Plan for Land use.
City government is a business and it needs to
run like a business.
Given Novi’s declining residential property
tax base, it is more important than ever to prioritize the
city’s spending to ensure Novi lives within its means. Novi
must maximize the value received for each tax dollar spent
and City Council needs to take the lead in offsetting
declining residential property tax revenue by finding
creative ways to attract additional high tax generating
businesses to Novi.
As Novi continues to grow and age, residents
will continue to expect the same or better levels of police
and fire protection. Residents also expect the city’s roads
and infrastructure to be maintained and/or improved when
required. The ever-increasing financial obligations
associated with current city and legacy employees must be
controlled. To meet these obligations, City Council must
find creative solutions without increasing the tax burden on
homeowners.
My record of city and community involvement
along with my professional background listed below, shows I
have the experience and expertise to make the difficult
decisions required to help Novi achieve these goals during
these challenging economic times.
