Novi PD investigating after body found off Grand River Ave. Sunday morning
December 22, 2013

NOVI, MI - The Novi Police Department is investigating a death reported on Sunday morning. According to officials, a passer-by called 9-1-1 after seeing a person lying in the snow and unresponsive just west of the Suburban Collection Showplace.

Novi Police and Fire responded and located a deceased male subject just off the sidewalk in the area, which is on the north side of Grand River Avenue east of Beck Road.

Deputy Chief Jerrod Hart reports that at this time foul play is not suspected, but the investigation is ongoing. The deceased is believed to be about 20 years-old.

We have multiple unconfirmed reports that the deceased was in the area to attend a Life In Color event at the Showplace. One witness reports he was scantly dressed. Internet comments on WDIV's website report numerous people had trouble finding rides back to their hotels in the freezing rain following the event.

The area is busier than usual this weekend with a gun and knife show taking place Saturday and Sunday at the Showplace, and of course traffic heading to and from the shopping centers.
