NOVI, MI - In a strong
showing of support for the community and education, Novi's newest
financial institution,
DFCU Financial, donated
$10,000 to the
Novi Educational Foundation
(NEF) on Thursday evening at their new Novi branch
office.
DFCU President Mark Shobe
formally presented the check to Novi Schools Assistant
Superintendent Bob Schram and Superintendent Dr. Steve
Matthews in front of several local dignitaries. Schram
is also the Executive Director of NEF.
It was explained that the
NEF helps the schools by providing support where limited
school budgets can't today, and that the money would be
used for such program as the Leader in Me, which teaches
Novi students the Seven Habit of Highly Successful People.
Novi Mayor Bob Gatt was in
attendance, along with Mayor Pro-Tem David Staudt,
Council Members Andrew Mutch and Wayne Wrobel, School Board Trustee Dennis
O'Connor, and several city administrators.
DFCU put on a first-class
show for the presentation at their beautiful new office,
with catering provided by none other than Mary Brady
herself, proprietor of
Diamond Jim Brady's
restaurant in Novi. A six-piece band providing
background music during the event.
DFCU's Novi branch office
is located on Ten Mile Road just west of Haggerty.
The Novi office branch adds 10 new jobs to the local
area directly.
DFCU is one of the state's oldest financial
institutions, tracing it's roots back to the 1930s. It
has been operating exclusively in Michigan ever since. Headquartered in Dearborn,
DFCU is Michigan’s
largest credit union with $3 billion in assets. In the
past year, DFCU also donated $10,000 each to the Ann
Arbor, Ypsilanti and Dearborn schools.
