LYON TWP., MI - A 35 year-old Wolverine Lake man was severely injured on Saturday afternoon when a fuel storage tank exploded at Watkins Salvage Yard in Lyon Township.

The Sheriff's office reports that the man was arc-welding the tank when the explosion happened.

The man received third-degree burns, and was transported by family members to Providence Park Hospital in Novi. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was then air-lifted to the University of Michigan Hospital Burn Center in Ann Arbor. He was reported  to be in critical condition.
