Mayor Bob Gatt!
Gatt soundly wins Novi mayoral election; Casey, Staudt, and Wrobel win Novi City Council seats; Kortlandt and Murphy reelected to Novi School Board

NOVI, MI - Unofficial results from the City Clerk's office show that Novi Mayor Pro Tem and retired Novi Police "Officer Bob" Gatt soundly won the Novi Mayor's seat.

The City Council election was close, with incumbent Wayne Wrobel winning over former member Ed Kramer by only 16 votes. Wrobel, who was appointed to Council to fill Kathy Crawford's vacant seat, is the first appointee to win an election in many years in Novi.

Newcomer Laura Casey and incumbent Dave Staudt also won Novi City Council seats.

Novi School Board incumbents George Kortlandt and Bobbie Murphy also soundly won reelection.

The Novi City Clerk's office reports the following preliminary results for Election 2011:

MAYOR OF NOVI
  62% Bob Gatt (3,518)
  38% Justin Fischer (2,173)

NOVI CITY COUNCIL
  20% Dave Staudt (2,915)
  19% Laura Casey (2,826)
  17% Wayne Wrobel (2,566)
  17% Ed Kramer (2,550)
  10% Ramesh Verma (1,625)
  11% Donna Skelcy (1,562)
    5% Rickie Ibe (693)

NOVI SCHOOL BOARD
  39% George Kortlandt (2,364)
  37% Bobbie Murphy (2,284)
  24% Tracey Kadwell (1,474)

A total of 6,019 voters cast ballots, of 37,366 registered voters. That's a dismal 16% turnout.
