Novi, Mich. — A 22 year-old Novi man was killed on Tuesday
afternoon at the intersection of Twelve Mile and Novi Roads. The
man's 2003 Honda was hit by a Consumers Energy truck which was towing a
backhoe.
The driver of the Honda, Karam Khalil
Hanna, received
emergency treatment at the scene and was transported to Botsford
Hospital in Farmington Hills. He succumbed to his injuries and died
at the hospital.
No one in the truck sustained
physical injuries, and alcohol does not appear to
be a factor.
Police report that preliminary
indications suggest that Hanna ran a red light and was hit broadside by the truck
in the intersection.
This crash is currently under
investigation by fatal accident investigators of the Novi Police
Department. If anyone has any information regarding this incident,
they are asked to contact the Novi Police Department at
248.348.7100.
