Police arrest suspect in series
of larceny from auto incidents
September 20, 2011
Novi, Mich. — The Novi Police Department has arrested and
charged a suspect who is believed responsible for nine Larceny From Auto
incidents. These thefts occurred during the evening hours of
September 3rd, and were all in the area of Nine Mile and Haggerty
Roads. Entry was gained to each vehicle by smashing out the windows
and subsequently removing portable Global Positioning Units
(GPS).
On September 6th, Novi Police Detectives received information from a resident that led to the
arrest of Azor Roboam Horton, a 25 year-old Novi resident. During
the follow-up investigation, detectives recovered one of the GPS
units at Horton’s residence, and also found blood evidence matching what
was left at several of the larceny locations.
On September 19th, Horton was
arraigned in 52-1 District
Court in Novi, and is currently being held on a $5,000 cash bond. He has been charged
with three counts of Breaking and Entering an Auto and one count of
Larceny From Auto. Each count carries a penalty of up to five years
in prison.
Horton has no prior known criminal
history, according to officials.
“This
arrest is a true testament to the Novi Police Department’s vision
statement – Partners with our Community,” commented Novi’s Director
of Public Safety and Chief of Police David E. Molloy. “It takes the
efforts of all to keep a community safe. And, with the relentless
follow-up and commitment of our investigators, incidents such as
these are charged and cleared.” |
