August 4, 2010
NOVI, MI –
The Novi Police Department announced Tuesday that two classes will
be offered to area residents that meet the requirements for obtaining
a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) in Michigan.
The classes will be offered on Saturday,
August 21 and also on Saturday, October 2. Both classes run from
8:00 a.m. until about 5:00 p.m. The classes fulfill both the
classroom and shooting requirements to obtain a Michigan Concealed
Pistol License.
The CPL classes are held at the Novi
Police Department Training Center, located at 45125 W. Ten Mile
Road. After lunch, participants will move to the Novi Firearms
Training Center to complete the training. The Training Center is
located near the Novi Town Center.
This course is a new offering by the
Novi Police Department, with the first of its kind being held last
month and receiving an incredible response.
“I am proud we can offer our
residents these types of services,” said Chief of Police David
Molloy. “These educational opportunities help strengthen the bond
between the community and the Novi Police Department.”
Participants must be 21 years old and
can register either online at cityofnovi.org, or pick up a
registration form at the Novi Police Department. The course costs
$200 and can be paid with cash or money order. All participants are
subject to a criminal background check. Class size is limited.
Students must bring their own
equipment, including a personal handgun, 100 rounds of ammunition,
safety glasses, and shooter’s earmuffs or ear plugs.
