Lyon Twp. woman surprised as drunk takes refuge in her garage

LYON TWP. — About 4:00 a.m. Friday morning, a Lyon Township woman heard noises in her garage. She opened the door leading to the garage from the house, and observed a man dressed in black in her garage. She immediately closed and locked the door, and called 9-1-1.

Sheriff's deputies quickly responded, and found a 31 year-old Lyon Township man, drunk, still in the garage. He had apparently gained entry through the garage side foor.

Deputies took the intruder into custody without further incident, and lodged him in the Oakland County Jail.

In a separate incident on Thursday afternoon, the Sheriff's Office reports that an unattended burn got out of control on Silver Lake Road near Kent Lake Road. The homeowner returned to find deputies and fire crews getting the blaze under control, which had spread and engulfed several acres of land on Irwin's Apple Orchard.
