The Novi Fire Department responded to a reported fire on Cranbrooke Drive in the Lakewoode Parkhomes subdivision on Friday morning.

Upon arrival firefighters determined that a fire was burning behind the walls of the condominium association's office building. The fire was under control in less than 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no damage estimate is yet available, according to Novi Fire Chief Frank Smith.

Initial reports from the association indicate a boiler may have malfunctioned or overheated, igniting a 4x8' section of a nearby wall.

Lakewoode Parkhomes is comprised of over 400 units, and it located north of Nine Mile Road just west of Haggerty Road. Most of the complex was built in the 1970s. Former Novi City Council Member Toni Nagy is the president of the association.
