Novi native lands opening act at Animas River Blues Festival
6/11/09 LINK TO ROBBY'S MUSIC

DURANGO, COLORADO — Novi native and current Durango, Colorado resident Robby Overfield announced this week he will be performing as the opening act for the 4th Annual Animas River Blues Festival in Aztec, New Mexico on July 11th, 2009.

The festival's website notes of Overfield, "With his soulful roots based in the shadows of Detroit, Michigan, Robby Overfield is a young, rising musician who blends the art of storytelling with genuine lyrics and a powerful voice to compliment an encapsulating acoustic blues experience. After three years in his new home of Durango, Colorado, Robby has continued to grow and expand his musical framework to include episodes and stories of his encounters out West. With influences such as Stevie Wonder, Traffic, Keb Mo’ and Jason Mraz, Robby has created an acoustic sound unique on its own merit. It will be a passion-driven introduction to an incredible lineup of musicians in this year’s festival."

Overfield, 25, graduated from Novi High School in 2002, and was the leading scorer for Wildcat Hockey that year with an amazing 67 points. He graduated from Michigan State University in 2006 with a B.S. in Urban Planning, and is a Long Ranger Planner for La Plata County, Colorado.
