Cassis recognizes Novi High School with special state tribute

“The students of Novi High School have demonstrated a commitment to excellence, and winning the Siemens award is an acknowledgement of their efforts,” said Cassis, R-Novi. “We are all extremely proud of these young adults. They have achieved much already, and I look forward to seeing them accomplish much more in the future. I have full confidence that these students will meet the challenges of a changing world.”

The Siemens Foundation and the College Board recognize an exceptional educational institution annually from each state based on participation and performance on advanced placement exams.

“We also honor the teachers and administrators that helped these students achieve all they have,” said Cassis. “The Advanced Placement program at Novi High School has grown much over the years. Administrators and teachers are constantly re-evaluating the curriculum and teaching methods. The Siemens award and this special tribute are a direct result of the efforts and innovation of all school employees.”

As one of only 50 high schools nationally to win the award, Novi High School will receive a $1,000 grant to support science and math education.

“My experience as a former Novi school psychologist has shown me that outstanding performances do not happen without the rigorous demands and support of parents, teachers and administrators,” Cassis said. “I congratulate the Novi High School students on their extraordinary achievements. And I give my deepest gratitude to everyone that made those accomplishments possible.”

The special tribute was presented during the Novi School District board meeting and is signed by Cassis and state Rep. Hugh Crawford, R-Novi, who also attended the meeting.
