6/2/09

The Novi Police Department honored several outstanding men and women of the Novi Police Department at its Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 29. The Police Department additionally recognized its Officer of the Year and Civilian Employee of the Year (photos attached).

“I am extremely proud of Officer Timothy Harper and Analyst Planner Pat Cauchi for the professional contributions they make to the Novi Police Department and in service to our entire community,” commented Chief of Police David E. Molloy. “It was a privilege to name Officer Harper our Novi Police Officer of the Year and Analyst Planner Pat Cauchi as our Civilian Employee of the Year. In addition to performing their work assignments at peak performance, both individuals embrace the mission and values of the Novi Police Department.”

Officer Harper was recognized as the 2008 Officer of the Year. He is currently assigned to Uniform Patrol as a full time Traffic Officer. He joined the Novi Police Department in 1991 after working one year with the University of Michigan, Flint Department of Public Safety. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ferris State University.

Officer Harper has taken an extremely active role in training other Department employees in various new technologies. He is an internal trainer in the Livescan Finger Printing system, CLEMIS booking system, as well as the new Traffic Crash reports which will be completely electronic when fully implemented. Officer Harper has also worked closely with other City Departments such as Department of Public Services and local Homeowner Associations to solve various traffic related problems in the community. Additionally, he works as a regional trainer for the Traffic Improvement Association of Michigan Mature Driver’s Programs.

“Officer Harper has truly dedicated himself to keeping the residents and visitors of the City of Novi safe while traveling the roadways,” commented Chief Molloy.

Analyst Planner Pat Cauchi was honored as the 2008 Civilian Employee of the Year. Pat joined the Novi Police Department in 2007 and has been an invaluable addition to the team. Her impressive credentials include both a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration and a Masters in Business Administration degree from Wayne State University.

Her employment history has paralleled her educational endeavors as she has previously worked as an Executive Secretary, an Administrative Assistant for Financial and Academic Affairs, and a Financial Manager at Electronic Data Systems (EDS). Ms. Cauchi has also worked as a teaching assistant at Faith Community Preschool and a substitute teacher at Novi Community Schools. Ms Cauchi has served Novi Woods Elementary School as President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer for the school's Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

In her 18 months with the Novi Police Department, Ms Cauchi's dedication and commitment to the overall mission of the Novi Police Department is self evident. She has been a member of the Critical Needs Project Team which reviews building upgrades, assisted the Novi Fire Department with Station 2 renovations handling all budget aspects of the project, and assisted the Fire Department with their annual budget process. Additionally, Ms. Cauchi served on several citywide initiatives including a voicemail replacement system and the 2008 National Citizens Survey.

“It is an honor to work with Pat and share the genuine spirit she brings to work each and every day,” commented Chief Molloy. “Pat’s dedication and commitment does not stop when she leaves work at the end of the day. She is a relentless volunteer in the community, always being the first to offer to help and support all Department and Youth Council activities. She is a shining example not only for her peers, but the community as a whole.”
