Crash claims life of Novi woman on 8 Mile Road

Shortly after noon Friday, the Novi Police Department received a 9-1-1 call regarding a three vehicle crash on Eight Mile Road, west of Meadowbrook Road. The Novi Fire Department responded immediately.

According to police, a motorist had apparently turned off East Glen Haven Road onto east-bound Eight Mile Road, and was struck by a vehicle traveling west-bound on Eight Mile. A third vehicle received minor damage as a result of the crash.

Eight Mile Road was closed briefly following the crash.

The driver of the vehicle that apparently turned onto Eight Mile Road, a 77-year old Novi woman, was transported to William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak by Community EMS and the Novi Fire Department. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, she succumbed to her injuries.

The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of the victim’s immediate family.

The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Novi Police Department.
