12/12/00  The Nationals will be shown on ESPN Thursday at 1pm and Sunday at 1:30am.  Set your VCR to catch Novi's Tim Moore -- the fastest junior in the country!

12/9/00  The season may be over in Michigan, but the nation's best were running today in Orlando Florida and junior Tim Moore
(PHOTO) is still making headlines.  Moore finished 8th in the nation and 2nd in the mid-west region with a time of 15:13.  Rockford Michigan's Dathan Ritzenhein finished first in the nation with a time of 14:35.  Here are the detailed results.

11/7/00  Congratulations to the Novi High School 2000 Men's Cross Country Team:  KVC Champions, Oakland County Champions, Regional Champions and State Runners-Up!  Way to run Wildcats!

11/4/00  At the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, the Wildcats were runners-up in the state finals, falling to Rockford 56 - 89.  Chris Toloff ran an impressive 15:05 to take second place, with junior Tim Moore close behind at 15:06 for third.  Rockford's Dathan Ritzenhein took first, with a course record 14:10.  Click here for detailed results.

11/1/00  Join the defending champion Wildcats at the MIS Speedway in Brooklyn Saturday.  The Division I run is at 3pm.  To get there, head west on I-94 to Jackson, south on 127, then east on 12.

10/31/00  At White Lake, the freshman and sophomores ran to a 6th place finish of 11 teams.  Joseph lead the way for the Wildcats with a time of 18:44.

10/28/00  At Midland, the Wildcats continued their unbeaten season with yet another 1 - 2 - 4 finish in Regionals.  Chris Toloff (15:10) was on fire once again, with junior Tim Moore (15:13) close behind.  Mark Avenius (15:52) locked up the fourth slot for Novi, and sophomore Tim Kava (16:24) took tenth.  Mitch Erickson (13 - 16:25), Todd Foren (16 - 16:28) and Eric Walle (19 - 16:35) also had impressive runs.

Next Saturday, Coach Robert Smith and the Wildcats will head west to MIS in Brooklyn Michigan for the State Finals!  It is sure to be an exciting run!

10/27/00  At the JV Regionals at Cass Benton Park (Novi's home), the Wildcats took second place and second overall.  Matt Harsha-Strong (18:07) finished first for Novi and second overall, followed by Steve Duda (3 - 18:10).  Rounding out the top ten were two first year runners: Freshman Eric Joseph (9 - 18:29) and senior Arne Meyer (10 - 18:31), an exchange student from Germany.

10/23/00  Novi finished first at today's KVC Meet, taking the KVC title and while also having runners finish 1, 2, and 4 in both the Varsity and JV runs.  Chris Toloff blazed another Kensington course record at 15:33, shaving 5 seconds off the course record he set two weeks ago.  Tim Moore (16:00) took second, and Mark Avenius (16:27) fourth.  In the JV run, Tim Kava (17:24) lead the way, Steve Szwast (17:47) took second and Dan Stevens fourth (18:08).

10/17/00  It was damp, the ground was wet, but the Wildcats were on fire again as they took nine of the top ten slots against Howell this evening at Cass Benton Park.  With this 17 - 46 win, the Wildcats have taken 50% of the KVC league title.  The other 50% will be decided Monday at the KVC league meet at Kensington.

10/14/00  At the Gabriel Richard Invitational at Hudson Mill Metro Park in Ann Arbor, the Wildcats finished first among 16 teams with 51 points.  They took first, second and fourth places in both the Varsity and JV runs.  Saline came in a close second with 54 points.  Chris Toloff (15:00), Tim Moore (15:20), and Mark Avenius (15:55) took first, second and fourth place overall.  In the JV run, Eric Saurer (17:03), Steve Szwast (17:12) and Dan Stevens (17:23) took first, second and fourth.

10/10/00  The Wildcats soundly defeated Pinckney 17 - 45.  Novi's top three came in 1 - 2 - 3 and took eight of the top ten slots.  Mark Avenius, Tim Moore and Chris Toloff finished within a second of one another with times of 16:50, 16:51 and 16:52.  Mitch Erickson (17:16), Todd Foren (17:17), Eric Walle (17:18),  Eric Sauer (17:29) and Tim Kava (17:36) rounded out the top ten.

10/7/00  It was windy and the temperature was only in the 40s at the Oakland County Meet at Kensington State Park, but Novi's Chris Toloff was on fire and lead the Wildcats to first place in a field of 39 teams.  Toloff took first place and set a new course record of 15:38, smashing the old record of 15:55 set in 1998 by Ben Evans (Brother Rice).  Tim Moore (15:58) took second overall, and Mark Avenius third (16:32).
Novi's score: 50.  Milford took second with 90, and Lakeland third with 122 points.  Eric Sauer took first place in the JV race with a time of 17:55.  Ten of Novi's runners posted personal records at the meet.

10/6/00  The Wildcats receive coverage in today's Detroit News.

10/3/00  Novi defeated Milford 23 - 33 on a beautiful fall afternoon at Kensington.  Tim Moore took first, Mark Avenius second and Chris Toloff third -- all with a time of 17:05.  Interestingly, this is the fourth meet in a row Novi took first -- each with a different runner.  Finishing out the top ten were Todd Foren (17:36), Mitch Erickson (17:41) and Tim Kava (17:44).

9/26/00  Novi outran Hartland 19 - 44 at Cass Benton on a perfect Fall afternoon.  The Wildcats scored strong, taking nine of the top ten slots.  Mark Avenius (16:50) was first overall, followed by Todd Foren (17:22) and Mitch Erickson (17:39).

9/23/00  Novi took first place in today's Shamrock Invitational at Cass Benton, racing against 16 other teams on a modified course due to conditions.  Chris Toloff (14:52) finished first overall, and Tim Moore (15:28)  second.  Mark Avenius (15:54) finished 5th overall.

9/22/00  Congratulations to Novi's Boys Cross Country Team, ranked #1 in today's Detroit News.

9/19/00  Novi ran past South Lyon 21 - 24 at South Lyon.  Mitch Erickson lead the way for the Cats with a first place finish time of 17:49.  Eric Saurer took third overall with a time of 18:07.

9/16/00  Novi took first in the Walled Lake Western Invitational in the Junior/Senior Class with 28 points, and taking the first two slots.  Northville took second overall with 73 points.  Chris Toloff (16:40) took first overall, Tim Moore (16:41) second, and Mark Avenius (17:09) fourth.  Novi's Freshmen and Sophomores took 4th overall.

9/12/00  The Novi Wildcats showed their depth this evening with a solid 17 - 42 defeat of KVC rival Brighton at Cass Benton Park.  Novi's leaders and the top three finishers overall were Chris Toloff (17:07), Tim Moore (17:08) and Mark Avenius (17:09).  Also finishing in the top ten for Novi were Mitch Erickson (17:29), Tim Kava (17:34) and Todd Foren (17:50).

9/7/00  Novi, ranked #1 in the County, soundly defeated #2 ranked Lakeland 20 - 35.  Chris Toloff lead the way for the Wildcats with an impressive 15:31 -- a course record.  Tim Moore (2 - 16:18) and Mark Avenius (3 - 16:58) were next in line, followed by Sophomore Tim Kava (5 - 17:30).  They were closely followed by Mitch Erickson (9 - 17:42), Todd Foren (11 - 17:51) and Eric Saurer (12 - 17:54).

8/23/00  On a sunny and humid late summer afternoon, the Men's Cross Country Team at Novi High School opened up their defense of their State title by racing and defeating the cross-town rival Northville Mustangs.  The Mustangs gave the Wildcats a good early season challenge, with the final score Novi 23, Northville 33.  The race took place at Cass Benton Park in Northville -- the home site for both squads.

Chris Toloff (16:09) and Tim Moore (16:10) led the way for the entire race.    A career personal record was set by Mark Andrews, chopping off 42 seconds from his 1999 campaign.
