Top Ten Things we hope for in Novi in 2012

January 8, 2012

Here's our list of the Top Ten Things we hope for in this new year:

10. The long-promised repaving of Grand River Avenue from Novi Road to Haggerty Road is finally completed.

9.  Police writing as many tickets for red lights, loud mufflers, loud music, failure to signal, and improper lane use, as they do for speeding.

8. More great activities at the new Fuerst Park.

7. Continued growth in local businesses, with the grand re-opening of the Novi Town Center expected this summer.

6. No more cuts to police and fire, and rehiring of those positions that have been cut.

5. Continued expansion of paths in town, but please, no more sidewalks to nowhere.

4.  The school budget stabilizes, with more consistency in state funding and an end to the continual adjustments year-round. Let the schools focus on education instead of budgets constantly.

3.  City Administration come to terms with Novi's Paid-On-Call Firefighters, valued members of Novi's Public Safety Department.

2. The City stop spending like it's one big party, cut way back on discretionary items, and balance the budget.

1.  Five more State Championships for the Wildcats!

We the People are pleased that Novi did so well in 2011, and believe this was due to the combined efforts of the residents, businesses, schools, and very solid community leadership. We see no reason to expect 2012 will be any different.

Happy New Year!

We're sure you have more to add - email us and we'll re-run this piece soon with those items we might have overlooked.
