The proof is in the numbers

June 6, 2008

While Michigan continues to weather an economic storm akin to a slow moving cold front, and the City of Detroit is hit with continual lightning strikes, it seems fair weather has settled over Novi.

This week, it was announced that Novi's bond rating has been increased from AA- to AA+. This means that Novi is considered as "having excellent financial security and being highly safe” by investment experts.

What does this mean for Novi?

It means borrowing money will be cheaper. It also means that Novi has yet another indisputable number that shows once again Novi is a very well managed city.

In announcing the rating, it was noted that Novi's stable tax base and ongoing commercial development were key success factors.

Folks, this means our civic leaders are focusing their energies in the right places. The end result is more positive publicity for our fine city, and most likely lower debt costs for financing the new library.

We the People are pleased that Novi's sound fiscal management is being recognized yet again. The proof is in the numbers, and these numbers clearly show Novi is heading in the right direction.

Well done to everyone involved!

Novi High School was once again rated as one of the top schools in the entire country by Newsweek. Well done Mr. Dion, Principal Lawrence, and all of our fantastic teachers. And of course kudos to the kids and their parents who make this such a great school year after year!
