Novi man killed by train,
suicide suspected

Novi Police report that a 42-year-old Novi man, originally from Mexico, was hit and killed by a train about 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.

The train was heading north near 10 Mile Road at about 30 mph when the engineer saw the man on the tracks. The engineer indicates he blew the train whistle continuously but the man remained on the tracks. The train could not be stopped in time to avoid hitting the man.

Novi Police investigated throughout the night. The man's body was transported to the Oakland County Medical Examiner, and the man's family was notified.
