Police will be out in force tonight
Designate a driver for "Thanksgiving Eve"
11/23/05
Going out on "Thanksgiving Eve"? Be sure to have a designated
driver, because the police will be out in force.
Tonight, the Novi
Police Department will have increased uniform patrols in the
area of Main and Market Streets, as well as in the Fountain Walk
Mall area.
Novi Police Chief David Molloy explains, "We realize that this
will likely be a very busy night for the local bars in our area
and we will be proactive in our presence. If patrons are going
to drink, we strongly encourage them to please drink
responsibly. Please appoint a designated driver before heading
out for the evening so everyone can enjoy a safe and happy
holiday season."
In addition to a full
compliment of Novi Police officers on duty tonight, the Alcohol
Enforcement Unit from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office will
have four dedicated units working targeted alcohol enforcement
in Novi.
Chief Molloy notes, "We are proud of the preventative
partnership we have with Sheriff Bouchard and the Oakland County
Sheriff's Office and are pleased that they will be working with
our Novi officers on what is traditionally a very busy night in
the metropolitan Detroit area."
