Team Notice: Meeting Friday...
All Student-Athletes on the 2008 Varsity and JV
rosters must report Friday March 14th for a mandatory
team meeting. The team meeting will be held in Room 131 at 2:00
p.m. at Novi High School. The meeting room is next to the
Athletic Department office. Please bring your student I.D. The
meeting will conclude between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m.
If any rostered or non-rostered player that attended tryouts
that has any questions or concerns prior to the meeting please
contact Coach Smith at

2008 Novi Varsity & JV Inline Hockey Tryouts

All student-athletes competing for a spot on the Varsity and
JV Inline hockey teams
MUST have a physical on file with the Athletic
Department by Friday March 7th, 2008. The cost of the 2 day
tryout is $10 per player. All players
MUST have the following protective equipment
for tryouts. A (HECC) certified helmet and face mask,
elbow pads, hockey gloves, cup, shin guards and inline
hockey skates.
Most importantly any player chosen to play on the Novi
Varsity Inline Hockey team will be committed
ONLY to Novi Varsity Inline Hockey. This means
you MUST relinquish your participation for another club
inline team or club ice hockey team between March 15th
through seasons end (TBD). Junior, AAA, AA, A club ice
hockey camps or tryouts and club inline tryouts will
ONLY be permitted if there is no conflict with the
Novi Varsity Inline schedule.

Novi's Varsity Inline Hockey Team remains undefeated heading into the
final weekend of league play following a convincing 7-4 win over Walled
Lake Western. The victory has the 'Cats fighting for first place with
the Howell Highlanders.

'Cats Squeak By WL Northern

Novi barley squeaked by the Knights of Walled Lake Northern Thursday
evening with a late goal by Shawn Baxter to win 4-3. "I said the rest of
the season would tell the tale of how we will fair in the state tourney
and we passed tonight with a C minus," said coach Smith.

Novi Inline took another win Sunday evening as they put the Spartans of
Livonia Stevenson down with a 11-3 victory. The contributions came from
everyone, with three different Wildcats scoring for three points
each.

In a rematch of a game played two weeks ago in which Novi shut out the
Salem Rocks 8-0, this week's game turned out to be quite a different
story. Looking for some redemption, the Rocks of Salem gave everything
they had to get a hard earned come from behind tie against the Novi
wheelers.

Novi Rolls Over Canton 11-3

The 'Cats came out of the gate early over Coach Smith's alma mater,
the Canton Chiefs, with a 11-3 thrashing Sunday afternoon.
Leading the way for Novi was Robert Lewis and Jeff Donohue both with
4 point games. Lewis scored a hat trick and added an assist while
Donohue did the opposite with 3 assists and a goal.

Novi was set to advance to the finals of the
league playoffs but ran into a hot Walled Lake Central team. The Cats
had a number of flurries, but the W.L.C goalie came up big in stopping
Novi's assault early in this semi-final game, as the Cats fell 5-2. Jeff
Donohue and Mike Arnold found the back of the net for the Wildcats.

On senior honors
night Novi finished regular season play last Thursday with a 9-5
win over Howell. With 5 seniors out of the lineup to receive
academic honors, Novi played well and paced themselves with
stingy defense and pounced on offensive opportunities.

The Novi Inline hockey
team opened some eyes this weekend at the 2nd annual high school
state tournament hosted by the AAU. Since Inline hockey is not
sanctioned by the MSHAA at this time the AAU has provided Michigan
with solid guidelines for education and athletics. What a weekend it
was as the Michigan AAU Inline hockey director Amy Carroll and staff
did a superb job at accommodating all the schools that participated.

and undisciplined game against Walled Lake Central last weekend, Novi
put a good game together Thursday evening, soundly defeating Canton 9-3

Inline Hockey Team was on a roll Thursday, soundly defeating
their cross-town rival Detroit Catholic Central 12-5. Novi
started the game with a goal in the first minute of action, and
didn't let up throughout the game.

Getting a new high school sports program and team off the ground
isn't easy. Novi High School recently started up Inline Hockey
as a Varsity sport, and, after getting thorough a tough 40
player tryout, the new Novi Wildcat Inline squad was ready for
their inaugural season and game at the Total Sports in Wixom
Thursday.
