Novi's Friday Night Lights
Catch a game this season while you still
can!
The
ball is kicked off and heading straight for the kick return man. He
catches the ball and starts running. Past the 10 yard line, and all
he sees in front of him are 3 players coming at him. Juking left
and leaving most players on the other team behind him. Now past the
30, the 35, and finally brought down on their own 38 yard line.
Every Friday night at 7:00pm during the high school
football season the lights brighten up and shine down on the field
as the kickoff takes place and the fans start roaring.
The Novi Wildcats have a 5-1 record after winning
their last game against the Lions from South Lyon. Novi has a
strong team for another year consisting of over 60 players, and
being coached by Tab Kellepouri along with assistant coaches Jeff
Burnside, Gerry Litman, and others.
Novi
football games are not just for students and faculty. It is a
family event and many people come to watch. All games are ecstatic
and jam packed with excitement. Food and drinks are served at the
concession stand for reasonable prices if you suddenly get that
craving for a slice of pizza or just need a cup of hot chocolate on
a cold day. Admission is $5.00 a person, and worth every penny.
The home games are on Friday nights at 7:00pm at the
Novi High School which is located on Taft Road and 10 Mile, just
west of the police station and the Novi Civic Center. It is an easy
to reach location for all of the people in the community, so catch a
game this season while you still can. The Homecoming game is
October 14th, and the final regular season home game, the annual Jug
classic, is against Northville on October 21st.
