Around Novi
Know what the "locals" know

Real life in Novi by a life-long
resident: 17 year-old Chris Lilla

77 Years of Service:
The Novi Fire Department

Since 1929 the Novi Fire Department has brought hard work, safety and dedication to the Novi  community.  Firefighters put their lives on the line daily to help others.

From car crashes to burning buildings, they never stop, and are always working at 110%, and with the many homes, businesses, malls, and Interstate I-96 and M-5 all within Novi's city limits, our firefighters are always busy.

In Novi there are full time, along with part-time paid-on-call, men and women who stop at nothing to serve their community. The full-time firefighters work mostly during the week days, and the part-time firefighters work mostly nights and weekends.

Everyone in our community probably passes a fire station every day at some point, and thinks nothing of it.  Inside, these people are truly the heart and soul of our community.

There are four fire stations in Novi, ensuring that these hard workers will be close to any run, and able to handle any problem in no time at all. The newest station opened just a couple years ago, and also serves as the department's training center.

The Novi Fire Department is always looking for new fire fighters.  People who are interested in this profession may pick up an application at the Human Resources Department at the Novi Civic Center, which is on 10 Mile Road west of Novi Road, call 248-347-0456, or click here.  It's a great way to learn, and help the community.

The minimum requirements for this position include: a high school diploma or GED, and being at least 18 years old.  Training in Michigan Basic EMT, Michigan Firefighter I and II, and Hazmat Operations is provided.

Stop by and check it out, and while you're there say "thanks" for all they do for our community too.

On a regular basis, we bring you information
on parts of Novi you might not know about --
restaurants, shops, interesting places, history,
and things you just won't find anywhere else!
