The
Citizen's
Police Academy

Starting Wednesday,
the 1st of March, is the opening day of the 2006 Spring
Citizen’s Police Academy.
The Citizen’s Police Academy is held by Novi, Walled Lake, Wixom,
Wolverine Lake, and South Lyon Police Departments twice annually.
The Academy is a 30 hour program planned to give the public a
working knowledge of the police department’s personnel and policies.
It is a sequence of classes held weekly for three hours.
The program covers different areas of the
police department weekly for ten weeks ending with a graduation for
all participants. This academy is held once a year in the spring and
once a year in the fall. All applicants must be 18 years of age or
older and live or work in the cities mentioned above.
This curriculum has been designed for the
people, to give them a better take on police policies and
procedures, and help promote a better understanding of law
enforcement. The instructors wish to reach out to the public and
educate those participating in this event.
During this academy, topics such as training,
communications, criminal investigation, drunk driving procedures,
crime prevention, and family violence, will be discussed.
